Meet our Pastors

byrd-familyLead Pastor- Joey Byrd

Pastor Joey Byrd was raised in a Christian home and trusted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at the age of five.  He has lived in the Elmore/Autauga area for over 40 years and has been a member of Victory Baptist Church during that time.

Pastor Byrd is a graduate of Victory Baptist School and holds a mechanical engineering degree from Auburn University, as well as a Bible degree from Open Bible College.

Pastor Byrd worked for Steris in Montgomery, AL., as a research and development manager before he became the Assistant/Youth Pastor at Victory in 2000.  When Senior Pastor, Steve Sanders, stepped down to Pastor Emeritus status in 2015, the church called Bro. Joey as their new Senior Pastor.

Pastor Joey has been married to Julie (Coleman) Byrd for 23 years and they have two sons, Will and Nathan.

Proverbs 3:5-6 – “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Dave Weaver has faithfully served as the youth pastor at Victory Baptist since July 2019. He was saved at the young age of 5 years old and was raised in the ministry with a father as a pastor, spending most of his growing up years in Florida. He has been involved in ministry now for over 11 years, 7 of which have been spent as a youth pastor. He graduated in 2008 from Pensacola Christian College with a B.A. in Bible, which is also where he met his wife, Lisa. They have been married since 2009 and have three beautiful children: Wesley, Kelly, and Tyler. Lisa is a stay-at-home mom and is also involved in our church music program. Dave enjoys playing sports, coaching, and spending time with family.

Dave has a desire to see young people saved and grow in the knowledge of Christ. Rooted in Christ – our youth group – is open to teenagers from 7-12 grade and meets on Wednesday nights at 6:30.
