What is salvation and how can I receive it?

Realize that God loves you enough to give His only Son.
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16 KJV

The Bible teaches that mankind is hopelessly lost in sin, and that without salvation, all men will die in their sins and go to hell.
“For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” Romans 3:23
“For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:23

Jesus Christ, Who was God manifest in flesh, came to earth, died on the cross to satisfy the payment demanded for our sin, and rose again on the third day.
“For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures;” 1 Corinthians 15:3-4
“But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31

All men need to be saved and can be if they will repent and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ.
“And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Acts 16:31
“For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10
“For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.” Romans 10:13

Salvation is a completed work by our Lord Jesus Christ.
“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” Ephesians 2:8-9

Scripture teaches that once a person is saved, he is eternally secure.
“For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38-39
“Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:” Philippians 1:6
